I Have Wings
And you might need to find yours
I am not sure if you know this about me, but I have wings.
They are beautiful. All white and soft. And they are big, when I decide to wear them, I look like a real life angel. And when these beautiful things appear on my back, a soft white light falls from the sky and illuminates me. As I said. Angel.
I am not wearing my wings all the time. It would not be practical, and not every situation in life requires angel wings. But whenever I face a challenge I immediately search for my wings, and they just magically do their job, help me overcome my obstacles.
Usually I write about self-development and HR things in my posts. So you can imagine that I am wearing my wings as I am writing this post. This post that is so out of the ordinary for me, so abstract, and does not offer any practical advice in terms of what to do and how, but offers something better. Offers the importance of our connection with our highest self and how that connection is the difference that makes the difference.
The thing I kept running into, both in my own life and in the work I do with people is that we can know everything and still do nothing. I can know exactly how to ask for a higher salary. I can know I need more space in a relationship. I can know the right move, the smart move, the brave move, and still stand frozen, unable to take it. Knowledge without the inner state to act on it is just information. It doesn’t change anything.
That is where the wings come in.
My wings did not just show up one day. I have created them, with my imagination, as a symbol of my strength and as a charger for situations where courage is needed. I’ve created them in conditions where I felt safe and aligned with who I am. An environment where everything was possible. They are made of all life situations where I have been strong, resilient and resourceful. All the times when I have proved to myself that I can and that I do.
And I am just a human. I do find myself in situations where I am afraid, when the obstacle on the road seems so big, so overwhelming, that moving forward seems impossible. And in those moments is when I spread my wings as wide as I can. Then I am illuminated like Venus in the night sky and fly over every obstacle. Then no conversation seems difficult, and no challenge is hard.
And you know who else has special superpowers? Every successful athlete in human history, presidents, COOs. They might not have wings like mine, but they do have their own version of my wings. They have their chargers, they stay connected with their higher self all the time and that is why they are successful. It is not only grit, a large part of their success, maybe the biggest part, is in their mindset.
And mindset is a flickering thing. It can work for us, and it can work against us. That is why we need to constantly tend to it, and more than that, find ways to remind ourselves that we are powerful, that we have all the resources we need. My wings are that reminder. Whenever my mind sees them, it knows how to act, no matter the challenge.
As a conclusion of this post I want to leave you with one question: what is the symbol that brings your strength into the light? Maybe you already have one. Maybe you have never thought about it. Either way, think about it now. Because a single image, held in the mind at the right moment, can change everything about how you move through the world.
Until next time,
Diana
